Commissioned at the height of WWI, and located on the border of Somerset and Middlesex counties, Fort McMyerson provided continued service straight through the Cold War. It was an integral part of the defense of our country from 1942 until the last of the personal were moved to nearby Fort Dix, in 1990. The base sat, inactive and unused until demolition was started in 2010.
